TOP MOUNTAIN STAR The peak Munich architect Peter Schuck has created a panoramic pulpit at 3,080 m, on the top floor of the Wurmkogl. It looks as though it is balancing on the narrow ridge of rock. The construction has a diameter of 10 m and is of glass all round. It thus provides a panorama hitherto unsurpassed: the yearning view extends as far as the Dolomites. In fine weather the glass façade of the panorama pulpit can be raised, outdoors and indoors thus merging. The whole is topped by a dome of glass and steel girders, projecting outwards like the rays of a star. A construction of surprising clarity, reduced to essentials, built of three materials – metal, wood and glass. The crowning glory is an encircling gallery where visitors can pace out the 360 degree panorama step by step – abstract visualized panoramas on the rail TOP MOUNTAIN STAR Altitude above sea level: 3080 m Construction year: 2006 Size: 210 m2 Seating: 90 FACTBOX Swarovski crystal outside 1.5 m concrete, held by rock anchors 258 m long provide information as to the names of the surrounding peaks and the distance to many cities in all directions. The interior is simply, but effectively furnished, the materials restricted to steel, glass and pine. Those who have the nerve to do so can lean slightly over the rail of the projecting terrace. The drop is precipitous. What is more, the floor on which one stands is composed of grating and glass. Further info Top Mountain Star | © Tirol Werbung 9
